Survival Skills Vietnam: Strengthening Teams and Expanding Impact with the MCA toolkit

Survival Skills Vietnam (SSVN) was founded in 2014 by Trang Jena Nguyễn and Tony Coffey with a clear mission: to equip Vietnamese communities with life-saving first aid skills

From its humble beginnings as a non-profit, SSVN rapidly grew into a social enterprise by 2018, touching the lives of over 150,000 people through essential first aid training.

By 2019, SSVN had doubled its reach, training thousands more in essential first aid skills and forming partnerships with national television programs. SSVN continued expanding their impact, even through challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic, during which they launched innovative online training platforms.

The Challenge

As SSVN expanded, most of its revenue for social investment came from business and commercial service provision activities. It lacks experience in fundraising as well as cooperation with other NGOs/NPOs.

The Result

Recognizing the need for a sustainable approach, SSVN turned to the Mission Capacity Assessment (MCA) toolkit and the Impact Link Asia team for our expertise. The MCA provided a comprehensive evaluation of their strengths and areas for improvement, enabling SSVN to properly assess their resources to develop sustainable strategies.

The MCA toolkit was instrumental in helping SSVN streamline operations and enhance efficiency, allowing them to continue their mission with renewed vigor. The insights gained from the MCA have empowered SSVN to make informed decisions, ensuring their growth remains aligned with their commitment to saving lives.
